Reveals and costs

What a reveal gives you, what it costs, and when it is free.

A reveal unlocks one company: its domain, website, emails, phones and named contacts. It costs one unit of your monthly quota, the same as on the site, and the quota is shared with your use of the site.

What is free

Searching, counting, reading a card and every lookup spend no quota.
Revealing a company again in the same billing period costs nothing: charged is false.
Checking the cost with GET /businesses/{id}/reveal costs nothing.

After the period ends

The domain and website of a company you revealed stay visible to you for good. Contact details follow the period: seeing them again in a new period takes a new reveal, which costs one unit.

Nothing is spent by accident

With REST, only POST /businesses/{id}/reveal spends quota. Reads refuse the old reveal= parameter with 400 use_reveal_endpoint.
With MCP, only reveal_company spends quota, and only with confirm: true. Without it, the tool returns the cost.

When a reveal is refused

402 quota_exhausted: no reveals left. Nothing was spent.
404 not_found: the company does not exist or was removed at its owner's request.
409 email_invalid: its email is marked invalid. Nothing was spent.
429 rate_limited: too many reveals this minute. Nothing was spent.

Companies that opted out

A company removed at its owner's request is gone from every endpoint and every tool, and cannot be revealed.
