Rate limits and budgets

Requests per minute, the daily budget of companies, page limits and temporary blocks. The figures on this page are the ones in force.

The figures below are read from the live settings when this page loads.

Requests per minute

Each key has its limit per minute, and every REST and MCP request counts. Each response tells you where you stand:

X-RateLimit-Limit: 60
X-RateLimit-Remaining: 59
X-RateLimit-Reset: 1893456000
X-Request-Id: 00000000-0000-4000-8000-000000000000

Past the limit you get 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header in seconds. Reveals have the same limit per minute again, per account.

Daily budget of companies

Your account can see a number of distinct companies each day, whichever key or client asks. Seeing the same company twice counts once, and companies you already revealed do not count. Past the budget, companies already seen today still pass and new ones get 429 budget_exhausted. Counting and lookups spend no budget. GET /quota tells you how much you have used; that figure is a close estimate.

Temporary blocks

Some patterns pause access to company data for 24 hours with 429 blocked: reading 10 consecutive company ids, 200 rate-limit refusals in a day, or attempts past the budget reaching 4 budgets. Your account and your keys page keep working. If you think it is a mistake, write to us.

Good habits

  • Wait for Retry-After on a 429 instead of retrying at once: repeated refusals lead to a block.
  • Use /businesses/count to size a search before paging through it.
  • Narrow your filters rather than reading long lists.
